Bayou Barn Cajun Canoe & Kayak Swamp Tours
Although canoeing and kayaking have been a favorite past time, most waterways in the NHP are currently impassable due to several years of heavy aquatic vegetative growth. The National Historical Park is working on a longterm waterway management plan.
However, at this time you CANNOT canoe or kayak in the Barataria Preserve. Please do not drive down with plans to canoe or kayak. Updated information will be posted here if the situation changes.
RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Advance payment is required for Canoe and Kayak Rentals. Contact us at 504-689-2663 0r 1-800-TO-BAYOU.
A unique and exciting adventure while in the New Orleans area. In conjunction with the Jean Lafitte Historical National Park, we offer ranger guided and self guided tours of the SWAMP and MARSH areas of southern Louisiana.
Located approx 1/2 mile from the National Historical Park and Preserve at 7145 Barataria Blvd (Highway 45) in Crown Point, LA, Bayou Barn has everything you need to enjoy firsthand the peaceful beauty of the Barataria Unit. Once within the boundaries of the Park, you will paddle Bayou des Familles made famous by the Pirate Jean Lafitte.
From your canoe, Alligators, snakes, native birds, egrets, nutria, wild pigs and thousands of other creatures and wildlife can be viewed in their own habitat.
Bayou Barn makes it easy to take a leisurely trip down the smooth waterways, renting canoes and kayaks. Each rental includes two life jackets and paddles. Reservations are required for Canoe and Kayak rentals. Advance payment is recommended as we rent boats on a first come first serve basis, unless advance payment is made.
We also offer group discounts! How about getting a group of your friends together to explore the park’s bayous? Special rates are available for groups of 10 (five boats) or more. And if you’re the one who organizes the group, your boat is free! Reservations and advance payment is required. Senior citizen discounts (10 percent off) are available on all day rentals.
